A peristaltic pump is a type of positive displacement pump used to move fluids through flexible tubing. It operates based on a process called peristalsis, where a series of rollers or shoes compress and release the tubing in a wave-like motion, pushing the fluid forward. Inside the pump, there are rotating rollers or shoes that press against the flexible tube. As these rollers move, they compress the tubing, creating a seal that prevents backflow. The rollers then move along the tube, releasing the compression, which allows more fluid to enter and pushes it forward. The speed of the rollers’ rotation controls the flow rate, making peristaltic pumps highly controllable and suitable for precise applications.
